Frank Sinatra had a long history in the Desert. With Homes inPalm Springs and the famous Rancho Mirage compound on Frank Sinatra Drive. This video is the complete show, filmed in the Rancho Mirage Estate, hosted by the late Huell Howser of the California Gold program. As an added bonus Frankie Randall is the guide. California Gold was a delightful series shown on PBS that featured amazing places in the Golden State. The videos are a great way to learn about California in a very entertaining manner. The Estate was sold sometime after Frank Sinatra’s death, in May 1998, and is now owned by a Canadian Businessman, according to local reports.
Frank Sinatra’s home, commonly called Twin Palms, in Palm Springs on Via Colusa is a vacation rental and party rental house. When not rented it is said the owners offer tours of that property. It has been featured on the home tour that is part of the Palm Springs Modernism week as well.
Hard to imagine but just 60 days ago on Valentines Day 2019 Palm Springs along with much of Southern California was hit with Historic rains. Palm Springs gets a double dose as much rainfall flows down off the hills.
Our famous tramway only recently reopened as the access road had been washed out. There is still a road going up in the mountain town of Idyll wild that s under repair. It has been a tough winter everywhere weather wise but we got our share on February 14th. To give you an idea of what you are looking at the video shows the side of Hwy 11 on the way into Palm Springs north of the tam. This area never has water but the storm channel just to the north of it that usually does have a little water was filled to the brim and overflowed.
